The final goal of the studies in thi area is the identification of association existing between genotypes and the phenotypes they express.</p> Our work in this area concerns two main tasks: <ol> <li> development of new analytical methods for genomic data analysis, using <strong>machine learning</strong>- and <strong>information theory</strong>-based approaches;</li> <li> development of new analysis tools based on <strong>data warehouse</strong> and <strong>mining</strong> concept, in order to find phenotypes of interest in clinical datasets.</li> </ol></td> </tr> <td align="right">[<a href="complexTraits.jsp?sel=3">More details...</a>] <br> </td> </tr> </table> <br> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="598"> <tr class="head"> <th width="596" class="head">Genomics: gene expression</th> </tr> <tr> <td class="center" height="26"> <br> <p>The possibility of a genome-wide measure of gene expression offered by <strong>DNA microarray</strong> technology has faced researches with many appealing challenges. Within the analysis of DNA microarray data, typical application areas are<strong> functional genomics</strong> and <strong>gene regulatory networks</strong> reconstruction. It is of particular interest to consider<strong> time-course gene expression experiments</strong>, in particolar focused on: </p> <ol> <li><em>Temporal clustering of gene expression time series</em>, using TA-based clustering of gene expression profiles and Bayesian clustering of gene expression profiles</li> <li><em>Gene network reconstruction</em>, using methods based on Bayesian Networks and Precedence Temporal Networks.</li> </ol></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right">[<a href="geneExpression.jsp?sel=1">More details...</a>] <br> </td> </tr> </table> <br> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="598"> <tr class="head"> <th class="head" >Proteomics: biomarker discovery</th> </tr> <tr > <td class="center" > <p><br> In the last few years a growing interest has been devoted to proteomics. Our main research activities in this field concern the analysis of data from different mass spectrometry (MS) experiments: <strong>MALDI-TOF</strong> mass spectra used for experiment of PMF (Peptide Mass Fingerprinting); <strong>SELDI-TOF</strong> mass spectra used for experiment of Profiling; <strong>MALDI-Imaging</strong> dataset finalized to study the proteomic profile of a section of biological tissue in space.
